David Dellepiane, like many other artists, found in these [Marseilles] locales reinvigorating material for his aquarelles, jottings and sketches. At his leisure, he was able to study the changing tonalities of the hours and the seasons, affirming his sense of color with what he had at his disposal in pointillist touches for rendering atmospheric vibrations, profound waters, brilliant clothes, the interplay of umbrellas (Marseille, p. 41). And though this could be said for the bulk of the artist's work in these Mediterranean climes, it especially holds true for the calendars he executed for such as Vegetaline--or simply for the printers themselves. An especially fine example of his mastery of craft is on display in this 1909 calendarium's quayside throng, gathered to see off the Parana, beneath a sky filled with equal parts pollutants and dramatically swept clouds. Giclee Prints are printed on heavy matte finish 180gsm German art paper using the finest Canon archival inks. Entry Level Art Prints are printed on 250Gsm satin paper.
