Choubrac was one of the pioneers of French poster art; in 1884, when Maindron published his first article on posters, he listed only nine active posterists known to him, and includced the three poster artists whose work made up the first poster exhibition, held that same year in the Passage Vivenne in Paris: Alfred Leon Choubrac and Jules Chere. Clear, deliberate outlining of his subjects was one of Choubrac's trademarks, and that design trait is clearly displayed in the design for Armand Ary's appearance at the Folies-Bergere. Although billed as """"La Chanteuse Parisienne,"" it appears--from both the up-right cameo and the central image--that Ms. Ari relied on curvaceous coquetry as much as a lilting soprano to put the behinds in the seats. Giclee Prints are printed on heavy matte finish 180gsm German art paper using the finest Canon archival inks. Entry Level Art Prints are printed on 250Gsm satin paper.
