Starring two members of Harlems famed Lafayette Players theatrical company, this film featured Lawrence Criner as Captain Billy Stokes and Kathryn Boyd as Ruth Sawtelle, a female daredevil. Though heartily acclaimed in private press screenings, this first silent film to offer segregated theaters a look at airplane flight failed to attract black audiences. The design here emphasized human interest and the films romantic aspect over its action elements.
