Richard Strauss Munich Opera Poster 0000-0644

In 1910, Munich honored its native son and maverick composer and conductor, Richard Strauss (1864-1949) with a week long festival whose poster was designed by Hohlwein. The woman depicted is probably Munichs own Zdenka Fassbender who made a name for herself in the premier performance of Elektra held in 1909 in Dresden. Its one of Hohlweins finest designs--and that makes it a poster masterpiece. Giclee Prints are printed on heavy matte finish 180gsm German art paper using the finest Canon archival inks.
