Literally dwarfing all other structures in its midst, the Eiffel Tower reigns supreme over the 1889 Paris World's Fair in this superb rendering of one of the planet's modern architectural marvels. Though contemporary eyes recognize the genius of the landmark, the iron latticework structure designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel was not altogether appreciated by his contemporaries. Initially called a ""cyclops"" or ""skeleton,"" many leading artists circulated a petition to have what they regarded as a monstrosity torn down shortly after its 1887 construction began. Their pleas were thankfully ignored and it has become one of the worlds most recognized tourist destinations, from which, on a clear day, one can see fifty miles in any direction. Giclee Prints are printed on heavy matte finish 180gsm German art paper using the finest Canon archival inks. Entry Level Art Prints are printed on 250Gsm satin paper.
